Terms of Use

Last updated August 18, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of scrivenersquill.com and the event registration it provides, operated by Scrivener's Quill. By using the site or registering for a program, you agree to these terms.

Effective August 2026.

Our programs

Scrivener's Quill offers continuing legal education programs connecting law with literature, history, and the humanities. Program descriptions, dates, faculty, and fees are published on the site and may change. We aim to keep this information accurate but do not guarantee it is free of error.

Registration and payment

When you register for a paid program, the fee shown at checkout applies. Fees may vary by registration date (for example, early-bird and later pricing) and are calculated at the time you register. Payments are processed securely through Authorize.net; by paying, you also agree to their terms as the processor of your transaction.

Refunds and cancellations

Our refund and cancellation policy is published on the Events page and forms part of these terms. If we cancel a program, we will contact registrants about a refund or transfer.

Continuing legal education credit

Accreditation and credit hours are described on the site as we understand them at the time of publication and are subject to the rules and approval of each jurisdiction. You are responsible for confirming that a program qualifies for credit in your state and for reporting your credit correctly. We do not guarantee that any program will be accepted for credit in any particular jurisdiction.

Educational purpose

Our programs and materials are provided for educational purposes. They are not legal advice, do not create an attorney-client relationship, and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional judgment in any specific matter.

Intellectual property

The content, program materials, text, and design on this site are owned by Scrivener's Quill or used with permission and are protected by law. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial, educational purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from them without our written permission.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the site lawfully and not to attempt to disrupt it, gain unauthorized access to any part of it, or use it to infringe the rights of others.

Disclaimers

The site and our programs are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scrivener's Quill will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or attendance at a program. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date above shows when they were last revised, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
